Hi. I’m Adam. It’s 5:45 in the morning and I’ve decided to post my first blog post ever. It’s not going to be anything fancy. I’m not even going to worry about what picture is at the top of this post. I just chose one at random from Word Press’ default library. Are those marigolds? My point is, I’ve wanted to start a blog for a long time and I’ve been told the best way to get things done is to just get started. So, here we go…
I suppose I’ll start with explaining the ridiculous name of the blog because it’s at the very least an ice breaker. Crispy Cabbage? What does it mean? It doesn’t mean anything. It’s a mistake, really, that I’m forcing myself to stick with so I don’t spin my family into bankruptcy trying to come up with the most clever domain name of all time. I snapped up dumbdough.com before this, then got cold feet. I got really excited about crispycabbage.com too, until I registered it. But I’m sticking with it, because I could see where I was headed. $20 a pop on GoDaddy can add up quickly.
Those names kind of make sense, because I want this blog to be mostly about money. Get it? Dough is another name for money. Cabbage is another name for cash (Though I don’t think anyone besides a bootlegger from the 1920s ever called money “cabbage”). Then there’s the “crispy” part. I was thinking about crisp $100 bills at the time and looked up crispycabbage.com for some reason (It sounded a little more catchy, I guess). It didn’t hit me until after I paid for it that “crispy” doesn’t really mean the same thing as “crisp”. Crispy implies something has been burnt. But, let’s find a way to spin this, because I am not going back to GoDaddy to register crispcabbage.com (it should be still available if anyone wants it). You’re going to get so rich reading this blog that you’ll be using $100 bills to light your cigars and heat your home!*
So, this blog will be about money. More specifically, I plan on writing about how future tech and social trends may affect your money. I like to dabble in the stock market with a tiny bit of “fun money” so I’ll talk about that too. I hope to be funny and entertaining, because I may be completely wrong most of the time. Of course, all this can change. I reserve the right to change this into a foodie blog or a blog about farming in Ireland if it suits my needs.
There. The first post is out of the way. Now, the really hard part. I have to actually let people know I have a blog.
* Not true. You will not become rich reading this blog. Read posts responsibly. Do your own research on any stocks I mention.
